New lambs were given a warm welcome to the
world by visitors to Kent College.

The school’s farm in Moat Lane opened up to
the public on Saturday, giving those in the city a chance to meet
two week old lambs as well as calves, horses, ducks and
ferrets.

The lamb’s meet and greet has fast become a
highlight of the school calendar and dozens of children lit up at
the prospect of coming face to face with the animals.

Spring was in the air as the sun shone brightly and
the 14 new additions to the farm made their debut.

Some will remain at the farm, while others
will be sold on for the meat or given to farmers.

Students at the Canterbury school have had the
chance to see the lambing season through from start to finish and
continue have a hands on role with the functioning farm throughout
the year.

Farm manager Beautrice Boyle said: “The
students realise how lucky they are to be able to get so stuck in
and it is nice to be able to share the experience with others in
the city.

“Everyone really enjoys meeting the lambs and
it is important for youngsters to be able to see animals close up
and interact with them.”
