Young man held over cab driver attack

A 21-year-old man has been arrested after an assault in the early hours of this morning that left a taxi driver in hospital with head injuries.

The 52-year-old is said to be in a stable condition in Ashford's William Harvey Hospital after the attack in Abbey Gardens, Canterbury, at around 2.15am.

The suspect, who is from Herne Bay, is currently in police custody.

Police say they want to hear from any witnesses who saw the taxi driver pick up a man from outside Baa Baas nightclub in Station Road East at around 2am and anyone with information should contact 01227 868262.
