KENT County Cricket Club will host a public exhibition this week of its plans to redevelop the historic St Lawrence ground.

The club is to throw open its doors in Canterbury on Thursday between 2pm and 9pm to allow neighbours, supporters and interested parties sight of the detailed plans submitted to Canterbury City Council.

The £9million scheme involves selling two plots of land for housing and construction of a 130-bedroom hotel to help finance refurbishment of all the existing buildings at the ground.

Kent’s chief executive Paul Millman said: "This is the latest step of a consultative process that started back in March.

"We’re very happy to be staging this exhibition to give people in the area and Kent supporters another chance to see these plans in detail."

Residents near Nackington Road, St Lawrence Forstal and Old Dover Road can also inspect the plans at the council’s Military Road offices, but comments on the proposals must be submitted before December 22.
