Kent set Sussex a huge target

DAVID FULTON: Has injury concerns over a couple of his bowlers

KENT decided not to enforce the follow-on and extended their overall lead in the match from 195 to 514 in reaching 319 for seven declared.

Kent took the safety first policy and ensured their losing streak will at least come to an end by batting Sussex out of the match in Canterbury.

Skipper David Fulton declared once Matthew Walker hit successive boundaries to reach his century from 146-balls – the first time the left-hander has scored two tons in a match.

Sussex will have 17 overs today and 96 on the final day in which to chase 515, but odds are firmly on the draw.

With Amjad Khan (shin) and Min Patel (calf) hampered by injury, David Fulton is left with a bare-bones and hugely inexperienced bowling attack for the final day of the game – another reason for batting on well into the third day of four.
