Kent's game washed out

KENT'S four-day Frizzell Championship match with Gloucestershire was adandoned as a draw today after further overnight rain left an already sodden outfield awash.

Match umpires David Constant and Barrie Leadbeater held a 10am inspection at Canterbury's St Lawrence ground, but quickly realised that play would not be possible.

Some 15 wickets fell in an action packed opening day, but rain and a high water table conspired to ruin the remaining three days.

Kent, who are next in action against New Zealand in a four-day friendly starting on Thursday, take just five points out of the drawn game.
