Key awaits England's Ashes call

ON STANDBY: Rob Key
ON STANDBY: Rob Key

Kent v Glamorgan

KENT hope to name an unchanged side to that which won in a dramatic last day run chase at Guildford a fortnight ago for today’s Canterbury Week championship clash with strugglers Glamorgan.

Injury doubts surrounding Andrew Hall, Justin Kemp and Amjad Khan have all cleared up leaving skipper David Fulton to select from a full strength squad.

Fulton may yet lose his opening batsmen Rob Key however, as the right-hander from Beckenham has been placed on stand-by for England as cover for skipper Michael Vaughan.

Vaughan suffered a severely bruised elbow after being struck on the arm during yesterday’s net session in Birmingham by Hampshire bowler Chris Tremlett.

Key will hope to hear by 11am if he is required at Edgbaston and, if he should have to travel, Kent will name a substitute replacement who will stand down if Key returns at any point in this game.

Kent team to face Glamorgan: Fulton, Key, van Jaarsveld, Walker, Stevens, Hall, Kemp, O'Brien, Patel, Cook, Khan.
