Two girls from the same school have been selected to play for the under-16 national hockey squad.

Lucy Hyams, 14, and 15-year-old Grace Balsdon are both pupils of Canterbury’s Kent College.

For Balsdon, this is her second year in the squad. Both girls are attending warm weather training in January with a view to being selected for the four nations tournament at Easter.

Both girls play regularly for the Kent College first team and Carol Baker, head of girls’ PE at the school, said: “This is an incredible achievement and both girls have put in an enormous amount of hard work to get to this level.”
