It was reported that traffic queued for three miles and one lane was closed twice for recovery work and clear-ups.

There was also said to be congestion back to the Northfleet/Ebbsfleet turn-off.

Traffic information provider Inrix said the collision was between a car and motorcycle at or near the junction after 4pm.

By 4.41pm National Highways tweeted that the road between the Darenth Interchange and the A255 for Bean was open and the closure had only been brief.

It had also confirmed that the accident had been a collision involving a motorcycle and Kent Police were at the scene.

The road was closed for a second time for further recovery work.

Inrix said at 5.50pm that all routes were reopen, work was completed and the accident had cleared.

Emergency services have been contacted for more details.
