Dartford striker Duane Ofori-Acheampong targets a scoring return to Crabble in FA Trophy replay against Dover Athletic

Duane Ofori-Acheampong is looking forward to a speedy return to Crabble as Dartford seek to knock his former club Dover out of the FA Trophy.

The big striker found first-team opportunities hard to come by at Crabble last season after signing from Torquay but has made an immediate impression since arriving at Princes Park in August and was a real handful to his former teammates in Saturday’s 1-1 first round draw.

Ofori-Acheampong played just 28 minutes combined in seven sub appearances for Dover from the start of October until the final day of last season, while he was an unused sub on 12 occasions and was left out altogether for 13 more National League games in that span.

The 24-year-old said: “When the draw came in, I don’t know what the chances were that we’d draw Dover, who I just left last season, but it was good.

“I was looking forward to it, seeing some old faces and stuff but at the end of the day it was just a game of football. I didn’t really have a point to prove.”

He enjoyed a ding-dong battle with imposing defender Jamie Grimes, with whom he used to travel to Dover training and games, and he added: “I had a good bond with a few of the lads at Dover so it was good to play against them and test myself against them.

"In the back of your mind you always want to do well (against your old club), but it was good, I enjoyed it.”

He admitted: “It would have been something to score the winner. We had chances - I think it was a good game and I think towards the end we probably could have taken it.

“We wanted to finish them off but they are a good side, you have to take the chances when you get them. It would have been great to score but we go again Tuesday, hopefully we can cause some problems there.”

He added: “Hopefully I can score (at Crabble), I’m looking forward to it, though I don’t think anyone wanted a replay to be honest - it’s a killer.

“It will be good to be back at Crabble again. I’ve seen a lot of pictures of the new dressing rooms in the new stand - it will be good to go back but it's just 11 v 11 again.”
