Bike rider killed in crash

A MOTORCYCLIST was killed in a road smash which closed a Dartford road for four hours.

The collision happened in Burnham Road at about 8pm on Friday.

The accident involved a Honda motorbike and a VW Golf. The road was closed between its junction with Priory Road and University Way.

The motorcyclist, a 35-year-old man from Northern Ireland, was pronounced dead on arrival at Darent Valley Hospital.

He is the second motorcyclist to have lost his life on roads in Dartford this year. Stanley Lyons, 67, of Dene Road, Dartford, died from injuries he suffered in a collision in Hawley Road on January 3.

A third motorcyclist, Ian Armstrong, 38, from Putney, was killed on Christmas Eve in Bob Dunn Way.
