Sarah Wellgreen: Ash church to hold prayer event one year on from disappearance

A church is calling on people to pray for a mother-of-five on the one-year anniversary of her disappearance.

Sarah Wellgreen was last seen on Tuesday, October 9 last year in the Bazes Shaw area of New Ash Green.

Her ex-partner, Ben Lacomba, is currently on trial at Woolwich Crown Court accused of her murder.

Ash Church, in Church Road, Ash, have asked people to attend their Praying for Sarah Wellgreen One Year On event next Wednesday.

It will be held between 2pm and 7pm and anyone is welcome to come along and "show support to Sarah's family".

A poster for the event said: "Light a candle, leave a prayer, come and go as you are able.

"The church will be open for you to spend some quiet time thinking of Sarah and her family at this difficult time."

Today the jury are due to visit New Ash Green to observe locations mentioned in evidence, including Bazes Shaw, and the route the prosecution say Lacomba drove on the night Sarah disappeared.
