College confirms 65 jobs lost

A college has confirmed 65 jobs have been lost after a three month consultation ended.

North West Kent College announced in May they planned to make £3 million savings as a result of last year's Comprehensive Spending Review.

The college provides further education for more than 4,000 students at campuses in Lower Higham Road, Gravesend and Oakfield Road, Dartford.

Of the 65 posts, nine were in management, 14 teaching and 42 support roles.

The college said they made no 'compulsory redundacies' with outgoing staff leaving through voluntary arrangements.

Principal David Gleed added that he was looking forward to giving students a 'high quality learning experience' for the new academic year.
