Dartford 2 Hyde 1

Two late goals handed Dartford a win over basement side Hyde on Saturday at Princes Park.

A last minute winner from Richard Rose (pictured) completed the turnaround after a below-par Dartford performance saw them trailing to the Blue Square Bet South basement side for much of the match.

Hyde had Adam Griffin sent off for a second caution with 20 minutes left and that was the lifeline the Darts needed. Harry Crawford levelled with just five minutes remaining and Rose headed home a last-gasp winner.

It wasn’t a memorable game for the Darts, however, who moved into the play-off positions courtesy of the three points.

The visitors took a 28 minute lead against a Dartford team showing little sign of the one which had lost just once in September. Alex Brown was the man with the goal as he fired into the top corner after good work in the build-up by Scott Spencer.

Dartford had a great chance to get back on level terms with 20 minutes left after striker Jacob Erskine had been fouled in the box by Ben Dennis. But Harry Crawford’s subsequent spot-kick was saved by Hyde keeper David Carnell.

Crawford had only just entered play after replacing on-loan Gillingham striker Adam Birchall, who was making his first start for the Darts since signing.

With 10 minutes to go a second caution for Griffin led to his dismissal, the second yellow being for a handball.

Five minutes later and Crawford made amends for his failure to convert from the penalty spot as he converted Mark Arber’s cross and headed home from close range.

There was more late drama to follow as Dartford gained a victory, despite a poor show, as Rose headed home.
