Lee Noble thanked his father for some match-winning advice after scoring Sunday’s decisive goal.

His fourth-minute strike was enough to clinch Dartford promotion in a tense play-off final against Welling at Princes Park.

Noble (pictured with trophy) said: "The ball just sat up nicely for me and my dad said to me before the game, ‘just shoot on sight’ and with my first touch I’ve hit it and it’s gone into the top corner.

"I would like to thank my dad for that one and it was a great feeling to have scored.

"I had a dream of doing it the night before – of scoring a goal and winning 1-0 – and that’s what happened."

It was a goal worthy of winning any game, as Noble – once a target of Football League Hartlepool – picked out the top corner from outside the box, to the delight of the Dartford supporters behind the goal.

"It’s the biggest crowd I have played in front of and all-in-all, it’s a great day for myself," he said.

"I am so excited to be in the Premier now, it’s something we’ve been aiming for all season. We tried to catch Woking at the top but that didn’t work out for us. We wanted to win the play-offs, we’ve done it and we definitely deserved it."
