Tony Burman says two trialists have the chance to secure places in his squad for the start of the Blue Square Bet South season.

The Dartford boss (pictured) has added a host of names to the squad over the summer but has Tom Bonner and Ashley Probets taking part in pre-season with the chance for them to earn a permanent deal.

Bonner, 22, came through the ranks at Northampton before moving on to Rushden and playing last season at Ilkeston in Blue Square Bet North.

The centre-back scored in the pre-season win over Dagenham and the 2-1 defeat to Gillingham and also featured in the 2-0 win over Southend on Friday night.

Burman said: "He’s done well. When I got back last week I had good reports about how he’d done and, after seeing him in training and then in the game last Friday, he’s done himself no harm at all.

"He’s a centre-half and he’s been playing in Conference North but his family are living down here and he wants to give it a go.

"He’s done well so far and we’ll see whether we think highly enough of him to make him an offer and then whether our finances will stretch to signing him. It is the same with Ashley Probets. I have known him for a long time.

"He’s a good player and sometimes you need to realise you are better than the level you are playing at.

"He was on the books at Arsenal and he’s been a bit disillusioned but in my opinion he is too good for Ryman League Division 1 North. He has a chance here."
