Battersea Brands Hatch rescue dog finds forever home after spending more than 270 days at centre in Ash

A dog who spent more than 270 days at a rescue centre has finally found a new home to call her own.

Goldendoodle Rosie was at Battersea Brands Hatch almost eight times longer than the average pooch.

The five-year-old, who is crossbreed between a golden retriever and a poodle, arrived at the centre last December and has now been waved off to start a new life.

At first she was very worried and shy, but staff took the time to build up a special bond so she could get used to meeting new people.

Slowly but surely, Rosie came out of her shell and after getting used to the world around her, she started to let out her sweet and affectionate side.

She quickly picked up commands such as sit and wait, as well as showing off her agility skills.

The pooch took almost eight times longer to be rehomed than the average Battersea dog – which is around 35 days.

She was also one of their longest-staying canine residents of 2023.

After spending time with a foster carer, Rosie has finally found her forever home.

She is now keeping her new owners entertained by running around the garden and sprawling out on the sofa for evening snoozes.

The Goldendoodle has even been taken out on her first big adventure to Skegness where she enjoyed playing on the beach.

Lisa Stockwell, rehoming and welfare manager, said: “It’s heartwarming to see golden girl Rosie find happiness at long last.

“She became a firm favourite here amongst our staff, who all came out to wave goodbye as she set off to start a new life.

“It’s fantastic to see her find the loving home she deserves, especially this September when we’re taking the time to celebrate our wonderful rescue dogs and cats who deserve a chance at happiness”.

Throughout this month, Battersea is asking animal lovers everywhere to support their Wear Blue for Rescue.

It is an opportunity for pet owners and supporters to come together and show their appreciation for rescue dogs and cats who really need a second chance in life – both in the UK and abroad.
