Birchwood Park Golf Centre golf club tees up for £5m transformation

A multimillion pound investment is set to transform a Wilmington golf club.

Birchwood Park Golf Centre will become Birchwood Park Golf and Country Club once the £5,000,000 redevelopment is complete, which will see the addition of an indoor pool, a spa and a fitness area.

Also in the pipeline are three aerobics studios, new changing facilities, a larger on-site shop, a new entrance lobby and reception, and an extended café bar and grill.

Oh, and you’ll still be able to play golf.

Operations director at Burhill Golf and Leisure, Guy Riggott, thinks the new look club will be a hole in one with both existing members and new faces.

“We hope that by transforming Birchwood Park, we can create a golf and country club that provides fantastic facilities for members and guests to enjoy, and that the changes will generate a lot of interest from the surrounding area,” he said.

The club’s general manager, Melanie Drake, added: “We want everyone to be able to enjoy the new club. Our aim is to create a premium facility to be embraced by all.

“Emphasis is now on golf, fitness and wellbeing, so we wanted to use the investment to further promote healthy living to the local community.”

Work begins in February with the fitness suite and studios expected to be complete by August 2016, and the full redevelopment should be open for use in early 2017.
