Orpington man and teenager arrested after ‘fleeing’ police after attempted burglary in New Barn Road, Southfleet

A man and a teenager have been arrested after they ran off from police following an attempted burglary.

At around midday last Friday, officers were made aware of the incident in New Barn Road, Southfleet.

Two suspects left the scene in a grey Peugeot.

Shortly after, numerous 999 calls reported a similar vehicle for dangerous driving.

Patrols spotted a car matching the Peugeot’s description on the A25 near Riverhead and brought it to a stop in Homedean Road.

The driver and passenger then allegedly fled on foot into nearby fields.

A separate incident was also linked to the same car when a van was reported stolen from Sevenoaks.

A 17-year-old boy and a 28-year-old man from Orpington were later arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary, dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving without a licence or insurance and theft of a motor vehicle.

Both have since been bailed until Wednesday, June 5 pending further inquiries.
