Terry Beaton charged with firearm possession after fatal shooting in Dartford

A man has appeared in court after being charged with possession of a firearm which is said to be connected to the murder of Hayley Burke who was shot after an alleged hostage situation at a home in Dartford on Friday night.

Terry Beaton, 28, from Dartford, appeared before Magistrates in Medway this morning after being arrested after Ms Burke was fatally injured during an alleged hostage situation in which another man also suffered gunshot wounds.

Ms Burke, 36, died in hospital two days after being shot at the property and the other man injured also remains in a serious condition in hospital.

Beaton was also charged with possession with intent to supply cannabis after allegedly being found with 490 grams of the drug when he was arrested on May 9.

He appeared via video link this morning and denied both charges and magistrates sent the case to Woolwich Crown Court to be dealt with and he was remanded in custody until his next appearance on June 8.
