Man charged with firearms offences after arrest at caravan park

A man who had been missing for a year has been arrested at a Kent caravan park.

Stephen Berry, also known as Stephen Waterman, was held at East Hill Farm Caravan Park, West Kingsdown, in the early hours of Friday.

The 65-year-old had been wanted since the execution of a warrant at a property in Crowborough, East Sussex, on Tuesday, June 20, last year during which four firearms and a large number of shotgun cartridges were discovered inside a large wooden crate.

Waterman has now been charged with possessing a pump action sawn-off shotgun, two counts of possessing a shotgun without a certificate and possessing a double-barrelled sawn-off shotgun

He was remanded in custody by Canterbury magistrates at a hearing on Saturday and will next appear at Canterbury Crown Court on Friday, July 20.
