A 31-year-old man who jumped to his death from the QEII Bridge at Dartford was upset that his plan to sail around the Canary Islands had been foiled.

Jason Simms was seen by motorists jumping from the bridge on Monday, July 25, an inquest was told. His body was recovered four days later.

Mr Simms, from Hertfordshire, had set off on the once-in-a-lifetime trip before problems forced him to turn round and return home. The coroner recorded a verdict of suicide.
