Two men arrested over cockfighting claims at traveller site in Claywood Lane, Bean

Two men were arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty after a warrant was executed at a traveller site in Bean after concerns cockfighting events were being staged there.

Police and RSPCA inspectors executed the warrant at a site in Claywood Lane, on Thursday morning and arrested the pair.

The arrests were made by the force’s rural liaison team and the men, a 44-year-old and another, 60, were taken into custody and later bailed.

A spokesman for police said: “Kent Police and the RSPCA executed a warrant at a premises in Claywood Lane, Bean, on the morning of Thursday, March 9.

“During the execution of this warrant two men, aged 44 and 60, were arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty.

“They have been bailed, pending further enquiries, until Tuesday, May 9.”
