Police rescue swan found walking along University Way, Dartford

No he's not up before the beak, nor has he been employed as 'the long neck of the law'.

While this swan might look like it's been arrested, maybe for breaking someone's arm, it was actually rescued by police after being found walking along University Way, Dartford, yesterday afternoon.

Dartford's police team tweeted: "Whilst on patrol today, PCSO SMITH and PCSO MIDFORD have come across a swan walking along University Way, Dartford.

"Safely slowed down traffic and returned the Swan to a near by lake. #ProactivePatrol."

And the team naturally went for a Hot Fuzz inspired quote, adding : "#JustTheOneSwanActually."

Kent Police later confirmed there had been no fowl play, adding: "At around 4pm on Sunday May 8, Kent Police received calls stating a swan was walking amongst live traffic in University Way, Dartford.

"A Kent Police patrol arrived while an informant was on the phone and, due to concerns the bird could cause a collision, officers gathered the swan and returned it to a nearby lake."
