Promoted Charlton Athletic start life back in the Championship with a trip to Birmingham City

Charlton Athletic's opening game in the Championship next season will be a trip to Birmingham on Saturday, August 18.

Following their visit to the St Andrews club, the Addicks will take on Leicester at the Valley on Tuesday, August 21 before another home game against Hull on August 25.

Chris Powell's side will be on the road again with a trip to Nottingham Forest on September 1 before their first London derby of the campaign against Crystal Palace at The Valley on September 15.

Successive away games follow against Derby (September 18) and Ipswich(September 22) and then the Addicks play their first game against one of the clubs relegated from the Premier League last season with the visit of Blackburn on September 29.

Their Christmas and New Year programme features a Boxing Day home game with Ipswich followed by another home fixture against Derby on December 29 and then a trip to Watford on New Year's Day.

They end the regular season at home to Bristol City on May 4.
