Record number of finishers as Cambridge Harriers' Dean Lacy wins the 2011 Dartford Half-Marathon

Dean Lacy of Cambridge Harriers won the 35th Dartford Half-Marathon on Sunday, taking victory as a record 693 runners finished the race.

The race included the 2011 Kent Championships and Grand Prix, with Lacy, pictured, taking the win from Central Park athletics track through the lanes around South Darenth and retaining his overall trophy in 1hr11min33sec.

The Kent silver and bronze-medal winners were unattached runner Ben Louch (1:13.40) and Peter Tucker (1:18.48) of Blackheath and Bromley Harriers.

Gavin Kitchingham (M50, 1:21.39) of Orpington Road Runners, Des O’Donnell (M50, 1:22.06) of Tunbridge Wells Harriers and Trevor Edgely (M60, 1:29.54) of Invicta East Kent were the medal-winning golden oldies.

Tunbridge Wells Harriers won the Kent men’s team gold from Dartford Road Runners.

Maria Heslop of Paddock Wood AC won the women’s race in 1:25.09 ahead of Clare Reeves (1:27.15) of Bexley AC and Sarah Anne Mooney (1:30.30) of Larkfield AC.

Heslop doubled her golden tally with success in the W35 master category. Sharon Hawkins (W45, 1:32.05) of Maidstone Harriers and Sally Musson (W55, 1:32.25) of Tonbridge AC were the other age group winners.

Larkfield won the team prize from Paddock Wood to improve their position in the Grand Prix standings.
