Riding centre enjoys special visit

A RIDING centre for the disabled, which is seeking £1.5m in funding, enjoyed a visit yesterday from a member of parliament.

Arrow Riding Centre, in Darenth Park Avenue, Dartford was visited yesterday by Theresa May,MP and shadow leader of the House of Commons.

Mrs May was visiting the centre to find out more about the facilities on offer as the centre has been chosen as a training centre for able-bodied riders for the London 2012 Olympics.

It is also hoping to put forward a bid to become a paralympic training centre.

But earlier this year, a paralympic committee said the centre would need investment if it was to be successful in its bid.

Yard manager Victoria Perry, from Longfield Hill, said the centre was now looking for funding to upgrade the centre and make the indoor arena bigger.

She said: "We are hoping to build an indoor school that could cost £1.5m."
