The BFG, Matilda, James and the Giant Peach! Roald Dahl to inspire Dartford art project

Primary schools are being recruited to help create a whizz-popping new display in the Orchard Shopping Centre.

Fresh off an utterly mad Alice in Wonderland project, artist Stephen Oliver is once again calling on the community to help celebrate some of the world’s most famous children’s stories.

This time the works of Roald Dahl are the inspiration for a display of hand painted fibreboard eggs, which Stephen hopes will liven up the mall over the Easter weekend.

“It would have been his 100th birthday this September, but with Easter coming up it was a chance for another community project,” he explained.

“I am trying to get the children from primary schools involved in creating something artistic as well as something to do with literature, using his books as an inspiration.”

Once the children have come up with designs, the schools involved will submit their best work to be transferred on to an egg for use in the display.

The eggs will be on display from March 25 until March 28, and schools in the DA1 and DA2 postcode areas are asked to contact Stephen and get involved.

You can also help support the project by sponsoring an egg for £70 . For more information email Stephen at stephen@stephen-oliver.co.uk.
