West tunnel at Dartford Crossing closed after a six-vehicle collision

A six-vehicle crash closed a tunnel at the Dartford Crossing.

The west bore tunnel on the A282 northbound was shut following the collision but has now reopened.

Traffic officers and emergency services were called to the scene, and recovery has removed the vehicles.

Traffic was being diverted via the east bore tunnel.

Drivers are being warned of delays of 25 minutes above normal travel time due to congestion approaching the scene following the crash.

One lane remains closed.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "Kent Police attended a multi-vehicle collision in the Dartford Tunnel at 7.17am on Monday, September 26. No serious injuries were reported."

A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We attended the scene following report of a collision shortly after 7.10am today. One patient was assessed and treated at the scene before being taken to Darent Valley Hospital for further checks."
