Valley View with Charlton midfielder Danny Hollands

It's probably a surprise I've found time to write this column, given how busy things have been since the end of last week.

Last Friday my partner, Natalie, went into hospital because she was due to give birth to triplets and the following day I scored twice to help Charlton to victory against Rochdale.

Then, on Monday, she gave birth to our three new baby girls - so the fact that the same day I was named in the league's team of the week passed me by a bit, to be honest!

It was nice to play in the game but I didn't want to miss the little girls arriving. We made a few plans but luckily it worked out that I could do both. It's just a shame that I couldn't get a hat-trick!

I was in training on Tuesday, though, and had a quick word with the Sky television crew which was down at the training ground to do some filming before Saturday's match against Chesterfield.

Things have been hectic, to say the least, and I'm going to have a lot on my plate over the coming weeks.

But we've talked about what's going to happen a lot and made plans for the future and playing for Charlton - and playing well - is an important part of my life.

I must thank all those people who've been in touch to offer their congratulations - it means a lot. I know Charlton is a family club - and now that family is even bigger!

It was great to score my first goals for the club at Spotland and even better to get the winner.

From the matches so far, some people may have assumed I was a defensive midfielder but while winning back possession and stopping the opposition is an important part of my game, I'm more of a box-to-box midfielder.

I feel I can get forward and score goals and the manager reminded me not to be afraid of getting in the opposition's area. It obviously paid off.

Things are going well for us and we hope it can continue on Saturday in front of a packed Valley crowd against Chesterfield.

We've got a tough couple of away games coming up next week against Milton Keynes Dons and Sheffield United - two of our promotion rivals - but they can wait.

Chesterfield have been in fine form so far this month and we need another three points before we start thinking about anything else.
