DARTFORD Judo Club could be in line for a £5m extension to provide a performance institute.

The facilities in the institute could include a small matted room in addition to the existing two full mat areas, a high performance gym, rehab area, a coach planning facility, performance analysis suite, medical consultation and treatment rooms and staff offices.

The Cotton Lane centre, considered one of the best in Great Britain by the British Judo Association, will have to raise funds for the capital project before the plans can go ahead, though it is unclear how much at present.

The British Judo Association has said Dartford Borough Council will also be getting involved in the project.

Alan Roberts, head coach of Dartford Judo Club, said: "Dartford Judo Club will be very pleased to enter into this partnership with the British Judo Association."
