Charlton were booed off after crashing out of the Carling Cup to League 1 side Yeovil at The Valley on Tuesday night.

Paul Warne's 28th minute goal settled the tie and left Addicks boss Alan Pardew a disappointed man.

Pardew, who made six changes from the side that defeated Swansea 2-0 on the opening day of the Championship season on Saturday, said: "I thought we started well but the goal really affected us, especially some of the young players, and that last 15 minutes in the first half were difficult.

"We were okay in the second half. We made loads of chances, not many clear-cut I might add, and I hoped we could have taken one.

"I honestly felt if we'd got the first goal we would have been alright. I felt that was crucial for the young players.

"But having said all that, we still lost 1-0 to Yeovil at home and we shouldn't have done that with the players that were on show. So there a few question marks about a few squad members and only they can answer it from here on in.?

Inspired by on-loan Fulham midfielder Hameur Bouazza, Charlton dominated early on and forced Yeovil keeper Josh Wagenaar into a succession of good saves.

The visitors then stunned he home side with a goal when Terry Skiverton flicked the ball on to Warne who drove home from the middle of the area.

Charlton's problems continued before half-time when Jonathan Fortune limped out of the action, meaning substitute Jose Semedo partnered Kelly Youga at the back.

They had chances to equalise after the break and, although Luke Varney, Jonjo Shelvey and Youga went close with early second half headers, they were unable to break through.

Charlton: Elliot, Moutaouakil, Fortune (Semedo 40mins), Youga,Basey, Wagstaff (Sam 46mins), Holland, Shelvey, Thomas (Dickson 67mins), Varney, Bouazza. Subs not used: Weaver, Wright, Sinclair, Fleetwood.
