Darts made to wait for new signings

Dartford v Billericay

Dartford's attempts to replace departed leading scorer Cody McDonald in time for Saturday's home game against Billericay have been hit by a hike in fees for transfer targets.

Since McDonald was sold to Coca-Cola Championship club Norwich City for an undisclosed club record fee, manager Tony Burman admitted that the asking prices for players that interest him had doubled, sometimes tripled.

He said: "We're being quoted sky-high prices which I refuse to pay. I entered into discussions with two contracted players but the fees quoted were ridiculous.

"Clubs believe we're flush with money, which is not the case. I had wanted to bring in at least one new player for the Billericay game but I don't think that's going to happen."

Darts, sixth in the Ryman League Premier Division, defend a nine-match unbeaten league run against Billericay.

Burman names an unchanged squad.
