Kent sprinter Adam Gemili has run a personal best to make the 200 metre semi-finals at the world athletics championships in Moscow this afternoon.

He finished in 20.17 seconds in his heat this morning.

The 19-year-old from Dartford is in the third semi-final at just after 4.30pm our time.

Olympic gold medal winner Usain Bolt runs in the second.

Speaking after the race, Gemili said training had been going well.

He added:"I'm in good shape coming in.

"I wanted to hopefully put myself in the mix with the best in the world, hopefully I can go and do that this afternoon and make the final.

"I'm really happy with how that run went.

"I wasn't expecting to go that fast - but I have and I've got to go with it.

Hopefully there's more to come in the semi final later on."
