A chance to join in an early Christmas celebration is on offer on Saturday when the Carols at the Bandstand annual event takes place on Walmer Green, Deal.

The singing will be led by children from The Downs Primary School, Downs Road, Walmer, and music will be provided by the Snowdown Colliery Welfare Band.

Martin Dadd, from the bandstand trust committee, said: "Carols on the Bandstand always attract lots of people and has a good atmosphere.

"So wrap up warm, bring a torch, have a good sing and enjoy the event."

The Vicar of Walmer the Rev Seth Cooper will lead the Carols at the Bandstand which starts at 5pm.

It will be followed by the Deal Christmas Parade, which will include visiting carnival courts and fancy dress walkers.

The bandstand was built in memory of 11 Royal Marines killed after an IRA explosion at the School of Music, Walmer, in 1989. The barracks closed in 1996.
