Manager Martin Hayes believes five wins from Dover Athletic’s remaining seven games will be enough to see his side into the Blue Square Bet South play-offs.

Tuesday’s 1-0 home defeat to Havant & Waterlooville left Whites two points outside the play-off places with a game in hand, but Hayes remains confident.

Athletic entertain struggling Bishop’s Stortford on Saturday and Hayes says he hopes the Hertfordshire side feel the backlash from the midweek setback.

He explained: “I know the fans would like us to perform well and win, but at the moment I’d take just winning. I’d like to go out and punish Bishop’s Stortford on Saturday, I’d like six or seven.

“If we can win five of the last seven we’ll be all right.”

Hayes has added AFC Wimbledon striker Jon Main (pictured) to his squad on loan in a bid to take pressure off 40-goal Adam Birchall.

He said: “Jon’s a proven goalscorer and he’s the type to take a chance.”

The Whites boss has also signed defender Ed Harris from Wimbedon until the end of the season.

Luke I’Anson begins a three-match ban on Saturday, while Olly Schulz could return from injury for Monday’s trip to Havant.
