RNLI, Coastguard and police join search for elderly lady in Deal

Walmer Lifeboat, the Coastguard and Kent Police combined forces yesterday (Sunday), in search for a pensioner who had gone missing from a home in Deal.

The volunteer crew was diverted from the weekly afloat training session after receiving a call from the police, asking for help in the search.

Both Walmer’s life craft, The Atlantic 85 lifeboat (Donald McLauchlan) and D class inshore dinghy (Duggie Rodbard), conducted a shoreline search from the lifeboat station to the beach at Kingsdown while crew were put ashore to speak with members of public using the beach.

Lifeboat press officer Victoria Brophy, said: “Just as the lifeboats had completed the first leg of the search Dover coastguard was informed by the police that the woman had been found safe and well.”

Both lifeboats were stood down and were able to continue with their exercise.
