A KENT primary school pupil who died in a house fire along with her mother will always be remembered as “an angelic, beautiful nine-year-old who loved animals”.

Emily Dunn was found with her mother, Teresa, by firefighters after a blaze ripped through the family home in Quern Road, Mill Hill, Deal, last Thursday.

Emily attended Hornbeam Primary School in Deal's Mongeham Road. Her brother, 13-year-old Conor, was away from home on the night of the fire on a sleep-over with friends.

Conor is now staying with his father in Deal. His parents were not living together.

A family friend has contacted the East Kent Mercury newspaper on behalf of Emily’s grandmother, Mrs Dunn’s mother Sue Pearson, of Trinity Place, Deal, who forwarded a message on behalf of Teresa and Emily’s relatives.

It said: “We would like to thank everyone who has kindly offered their condolences at this tragic time.

“Teresa was a wonderful lady who simply lived for her children. Emily was an angelic, beautiful nine-year-old girl who loved animals, especially horses, whether it was riding them or drawing them.”

Forensic are still investigating the cause of blaze. A spokesman for Kent Police said that an inquest into the two deaths was due to be opened.
