Pensioner in train tragedy is named

INVESTIGATIONS by the British Transport Police are continuing into the death of a pensioner on the track at Deal Railway Station.

An inquest was opened at Thanet on Thursday when the coroner was told the man had been identified as Pearce Gummow Wright, 72, who lived at Market Street in Deal.

Emergency crews were called to the station on Friday, May 6, when Mr Wright was struck by a train due to stop at one of the two platforms.

Mr Wright was taken to the Queen Mother Hospital at Margate, but died later the same day.
