Police have issued an efit picture of a boy they want to talk to after a teenage girl was seriously injured in a Dover park.

The 14-year-old girl from Temple Ewell may have lost the vision in one of her eyes after she was hit in the face by a piece of bark thrown by the boy.

The teenager and two friends were in the play area near the skate park in Pencester Gardens after school on Monday September 19.

Two boys, who had been calling the girl names earlier, were throwing bark when a piece hit the girl in the eye.

Her friends took her home, from where she went to Buckland Hospital in Dover. The following day she was still in pain and feeling unwell so went to the Wiliam Harvey Hospital in Ashford where she was found to have a bleed at the back of her eye.

Detective Sergeant Nicky Steele said: "This is a nasty injury for this young girl and may result in her losing the sight in one of her eyes.

"We would appeal to anyone who may have been in Pencester Gardens to remember back to about 5.30pm on Monday September 19 as they may be able to assist us with further information so that we can trace the boy."

The boy, who is believed to be aged under 12, was wearing a grey tracksuit bottoms, a grey hooded top and had dark brown hair.
