Sandwich Town gained their expected victory over Kent Cricket League Division 1’s bottom club Orpington on Saturday.

Skipper Matt van Poppel (4-22) and Alan Amos (3-28) combined to help dismiss Orpington for 122 and then Vishaul Singh (pictured) with 46 not out led Sandwich past their target for the loss of four wickets.

In Division 4, relegation-threatened Walmer made a brave effort to pull themselves out of trouble at Bexleyheath.

Set a daunting 319 to win, they were given a promising start by opener Jared Bond (76) and then Mark Parnell carried on the good work with 67. But nobody else was able to pick up the baton and, in the end, Walmer had to settle for a losing draw on 237-9.
