The people of East Kent honour those who died in wars

People of Dover, Deal and Sandwich turned out in their thousands on Sunday to honour those who died in wars.

Remembrance Sunday services were held in the three towns, with wreath-laying ceremonies led by the Mayors, Cllr Sue Jones in Dover, Cllr Bill Gardner in Deal and Cllr Joe Trussler in Sandwich.

Representatives from service organisations took part in parades. Standards were lowered for the two minutes' silence, signalled by Last Post and ended with Reveille.

Officials from Calais travelled to Dover to take part in the service there.

Full reports with pictures of the ceremonies will appear in this week's East Kent Mercury and Dover Mercury.
