Tickets for Ripplevale School's Prom in the Park now available

Families are invited to an evening of brass on the grass at Ripplevale School in July.

The summer party will be on Friday, July 24, from 7.30pm in the school’s grounds.

It will feature the Betteshanger Brass Band conducted by John Goold, music from the stage and screen and traditional Last Night of the Proms favourites.

The school in Chapel Lane last hosted a Prom in the Park event in 2012 and is relaunching it this year by popular demand.

In previous years it has supported organisations such as Martha Trust, Kent Air Ambulance and Deal Memorial Bandstand Trust.

This year it is pledging its support to Deal, Walmer and Kingsdown Regatta Association.

Business manager Jane Norris said: “Our director was talking to the chairman of DWKRA who said they were in need of funds.

“As we have every year, we wanted to support a local charity. We feel the regatta is enjoyed by Deal, Walmer and Kingsdown residents and we certainly want it to continue.”

Gates will be open from 6pm for those wishing to picnic prior to the entertainment.

Tables and chairs are allowed along with alcohol, providing it is consumed from plastic beakers.

Dogs, except guide dogs, and barbecues are not allowed.

No refunds will be offered in the event of bad weather, and the orchestra will play on.

Tickets cost £10 for adults and £5 for children (five to 15 years) from Ripplevale School on 01304 365525 or call into the Mercury office in Queen Street, Deal.
