Deal Town suffered Kent Senior Trophy semi-final penalty shoot-out heartbreak on Saturday.

It was the second season in a row that Deal had fallen at the last-four stage.

Town made the initial breakthrough after 26 minutes when Arron Robinson beat Matt Bromby, but the Deres drew level within two minutes when Huseyin Budak’s mishit cross beat Deal keeper Paul Rogers.

Deal’s chances were hit when they had Shane Suter sent off after 68 minutes for a second yellow card. The Deres couldn’t capitalise on their advantage, though, and with seven minutes left were also reduced to 10 men when Nick Smith pushed Deal left-back Leon Ingram over and was dismissed.

Deal had the better of the first period of extra-time but Deres’ substitute Sam Prett could have won the game in the last minute but was denied by a last-ditch tackle.

The match went to penalty kicks and with Deres leading 6-5 Gary Beeden had to score but saw his kick hit the bar.

Deal Town: Rogers, Beeden, Davidson (Waring 93), Govey, Ingram, J Collins (Godden 70), Cassar, Bathgate, Suter, Robinson, Smith.
