3 arrested as police close down brothel

THREE women suspected of keeping or managing a brothel used for prostitution have been arrested by Kent Police.

A neighbourhood policing team swooped on an address in Cherry Tree Avenue, Dover, in response to concerns raised by local residents.

Two women from Deal, one aged 24 and the other aged 28, and a 23-year-old woman from Birchington, were formally cautioned for keeping or managing a brothel used for prostitution under the Sexual Offences Act 1956.

Chief Insp Roy Cottam, of Dover Police, said: “I would like to thank the community for bringing this to our attention and the work done by our neighbourhood policing team for resolving the issue.

“We will continue to work with members of the community to address issues that affect their quality of life, and to make the Dover district a safer place to live.”

Police with a search warrant visited the address in Cherry Tree Avenue on November 16.
