Air rifle, bayonet and hundreds of cannabis plants unearthed in warehouse in Holmestone Road, Dover

Police have seized 260 cannabis plants, an air rifle and a bayonet after discovering a cannabis factory.

The plants were unearthed in a warehouse in Dover on Friday.

The factory was discovered in a warehouse in Holmestone Road, off Poulton Close and officers arrested a 30 year-old man.

PC Matt Hawkes of Dover’s community policing team said: "There was a total of 260 plants of varying size along with associated lights, fans and grow tents."

Officers also seized dried buds and the two weapons.

PC Hawkes added: "We also seized a quantity of dried cannabis buds and an air rifle and bayonet."

There were also signs the electricity had been abstracted illegally at the warehouse.

Crime scene investigators carried out forensic examinations before the factory was dismantled by officers.

Investigating officer PC Kerry Akast added: "This discovery will have had a significant impact on the supply of illegal drugs in Dover.

"We would like to hear from anyone who has seen suspicious activity in the Holmestone Road area of the town.

"We would also like to hear from anyone suspecting that a cannabis factory may be operating in their neighbourhood."

The man arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and abstracting electricity who was from the Dover area, has been released while inquiries continue.
