Body of man in 20s found following coastguard search for missing man in water in Dover harbour

A body has been discovered in a search for a missing man in a harbour.

The search helicopter from Lydd and the coastguard scoured Dover harbour yesterday afternoon after reports a man had been seen jumping into the water.

But efforts were "suspended" at 6.15pm after the body of a man in his 20s was discovered on the shore.

A spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 12.35pm following concern for a man in the sea near Marine Parade, Dover.

"Officers attended to assist HM Coastguard in searching the area.

"A body of a man in his 20s was found on the beach.

"His death is not being treated as suspicious and a report is being prepared for the coroner."

It's understood that officials aren't linking the incident to reports of migrant boats, heading to the UK.
