Swiss pilot Yves Rossy has postponed his attempt to become the first man to cross the English Channel with only a single jet-propelled wing strapped to his back.

Mr Rossy was due to have made the attempt on Wednesday, but he has put it back 24 hours and will now try it on Thursday, sometime after noon.

He is due to from a plane more than 3,000 metres above ground over Cap Blanc Nez, fire up the jets on his wing and soar across the Channel at speeds approaching 190kph. He hopes to complete the crossing in 15 minutes.

It will be broadcast live on National Geographic Channel, and will also be shown on the internet.
