Man hurt after smashing through shop window

AN INVESTIGATION is underway into how a man ended up smashing through a shop window in a Kent town over the weekend.

The 21-year-old Polish man suffered serious cuts and a deep laceration to his leg as a result and is being treated by a specialist surgeon at Medway Maritime Hospital.

The incident took place at around 3.20am on Sunday in Dover town centre.

The Polish man had been talking to a group of men who are alleged to have been abusive towards him.

Police say one or two of the men may have pushed him against the window of the Thomson travel shop in Biggin Street, causing him to fall through the glass.

An 18-year-old local man was arrested and questioned in connection with the incident. He has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

* Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact Det Sgt Max Davidson on 01303 850055 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
