Keiran Rampton, 23, charged after being tasered by police in Market Square, Dover

A man who was tasered by police in Dover town centre has been charged with three offences, which include assaulting a teenager.

Keiran Rampton, of Churchill Road, Dover, reportedly acted aggressively towards the public and property in Market Square at 4.45pm on Saturday.

A police spokesman said officers tried to talk to the man but he became angry. They tried again but he wouldn't listen and started moving towards them.

He was charged with two counts of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent and assaulting a 16-year-old boy.

A taser was used to "prevent the situation from escalating" and the man fell to the ground and hit his head.

An ambulance was called and the man, who was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence, was taken to hospital.

He then remained in custody until Sunday when he was released on bail to answer before Folkestone Magistrates on Wednesday, October 14 with a condition that he is not to be under the influence of alcohol in a public place.
