Smoke emerging from chimney in a Dover home sparked 999 call from resident

A fire crew from Dover was called out last night amid fears a fire had broke out in a property.

The call was made at about 7.30pm from a neighbour who saw smoke billowing from a house in Park Avenue.

But a Kent Fire and Rescue spokesman confirmed that the firefighters did nothing because it was a false alarm.

He said: "Smoke was coming from the chimney.

"The way it was moving around it did look like there was a fire going on."
